Joelle Jones’ New Project: Troublemaker by Janet Evanovich

Troublemaker

Joelle Jones, whose art I have adored in 12 Reasons Why I Love Her, Token, and You Have Killed Me, is now working on something very high profile: a graphic novel co-written by Janet Evanovich, the best-selling mystery writer, and her daughter Alex.

Troublemaker, coming from Dark Horse on July 20, is expected to have an initial print run of 100,000, which is at least four times the usual number printed. Since Evanovich is credited with selling over 90 million books, I’m guessing it’s a safe bet.

Troublemaker

Troublemaker is the third in a series than began as prose, so expect lots of crossover customers. (Some of whom will be disappointed and confused by seeing pictures instead of words in the book, judging by previous experiments of this type, such as Dean Koontz’s In Odd We Trust.) The graphic novel continues the Barnaby and Hooker series from Metro Girl and Motor Mouth, in which a NASCAR driver and his mechanic solve crimes.

  • I’m a big fan of Janet Evanovich and Joelle Jones, and, full disclosure, I work for TFAW.com. We’ve got an exclusive video interview with Janet and her daughter Alex talking about Troublemaker and previewing some of Joelle’s art!

    Here’s the Janet Evanovich video.
