Warner Home Video has announced today that the next original animated DC movie will be Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, starring Nathan Fillion (Serenity, Castle) as Hal Jordan.

Fillion previously played Steve Trevor in the animated Wonder Woman movie. This is the second Green Lantern animated film; in the previous, First Flight, Jordan was voiced by Christopher Meloni. In Emerald Knights, Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) plays Arisia, “a young recruit forced into her first mission on just her third day as a Green Lantern.”

Also in this film: Henry Rollins as Kilowog, Jason Isaacs as Sinestro, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as Bolphunga, Arnold Vosloo as Abin Sur, Kelly Hu as Laira, and Wade Williams as Deegan. (Who’s Bolphunga? A bounty hunter who first went after Mogo. Based on his presence in Green Lantern Corps: Recharge, that may be a hint as to the plot of this movie.)

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is due out June 7, just in time to promote the live-action Green Lantern movie, which will be in theaters June 17. GLEK will be available on Blu-ray, as a two-disc DVD special edition, as a single-disc DVD, and On Demand and for download. Note for trivia fans: Ryan Reynolds, the live-action Green Lantern, and Fillion, the new animated Green Lantern, previously worked together on the sitcom Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.
