Finally! Fumi Yoshinaga’s What Did You Eat Yesterday? Coming From Vertical

What Did You Eat Yesterday?

I am thrilled to hear that the long-anticipated What Did You Eat Yesterday? is coming from Vertical in March 2014. I’m a huge fan of Fumi Yoshinaga’s works, including her previous book of restaurant reviews, Not Love But Delicious Foods Make Me So Happy!

There are seven Japenese volumes out so far of Kinō Nani Tabeta? (What Did You Eat Yesterday?), beginning from 2007, and Vertical plans to bring them out one every two months. The story is about a lawyer, Shirō, who lives with a hair stylist. Shirō takes great interest in cooking good food, and the series also includes recipes and cooking tips.

What Did You Eat Yesterday?

This is the first Yoshinaga release from Vertical, although much of her work in English is available through Viz and Digital Manga. It should be of interest to any fans of food manga or stories of men in love. I’ve seen the first volume in the original Japanese, and although I couldn’t read it, the art is classic Yoshinaga. This is a very exciting announcement.

Update: At their Tumblr, Vertical has posted a cover gallery.
