H.R. Pufnstuf Returns!

That giant dragon-y paragon of kids’ shows, H.R. Pufnstuf, will be returning to TV for the first time in over 45 years. The Nickelodeon live-action preschool series Mutt & Stuff will include a special guest-starring H.R. Pufnstuf, Cling and Clang, Freddy the Flute, and the Rescue Racer.

“H.R. Pufnstuf Comes to Mutt & Stuff!” will premiere in early 2016. The description is

Stuff’s favorite uncle H.R. Pufnstuf decides to visit him at the canine school. When H.R. Pufnstuf arrives with his friends from Living Island, Stuff goes overboard in an attempt to impress him and make sure everything is perfect.

Sid and Marty Krofft produce both, and H.R. Pufnstuf was the first show the brothers created. Mutt & Stuff features both real dogs and puppets. It’s the number-one preschool show in its time period and airs weekdays at 10 AM Eastern. The episodes feature canine training information, tricks, and humor in its goal of fostering responsible pet ownership.
