School Judgment Gakkyu Hotei Collection Due February
I enjoyed the chapters of School Judgment Gakkyu Hotei I read in Weekly Shonen Jump last year, so I’m glad to see it will be collected. I should have known that was inevitable, since the story is drawn by Takeshi Obata, who’s well-known on these shores for Death Note and Bakuman.
The premise, as written by Nobuaki Enoki, involves disputes among elementary school students being settled with lawyers and court-like class arbitration sessions. As the introduction page says, “the government introduced a revolutionary new system into grade schools all across the country in order to purge such evil [as bullying and corporal punishment] running rampant across the field of education.” Cases are things like who killed the class’ pet fish or someone taking photos secretly of the class idol. Lead lawyer is the scarily intense Abaku Inugami, who faces off against the super-cute Pine Hanzuki.
School Judgment Gakkyu Hotei can be preordered from your local comic store with Diamond code DEC15 1686. It’s due out February 3. Volume 1 has a cover price of $9.99.
