Vera Brosgol’s Next Books Announced

Publishers Weekly has announced that Vera Brosgol, author of the impressive coming-of-age ghost story Anya’s Ghost, will be publishing three books with Macmillan Children’s Books.
Of most interest to me is a middle-grade graphic memoir, Be Prepared, “that recounts the author’s time at a Russian Orthodox summer camp in Upstate New York.” I enjoy stories of people finding themselves, particularly with a distinctive cultural overlay.
Out first, though, is Leave Me Alone!, a picture book described as a modern folktale. It’s about a grandmother who journeys to the moon in order to find peace and quiet to finish her knitting and is due out in September. Sounds like a great excuse for all kinds of creative images, and look how neat Brosgol draws her expressions! The third book will also be a picture book, with no details yet available.
