Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout Announced

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced a new entry in their Lego DC Comics Super Heroes direct-to-video movie line. Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout has an adorable concept. Batman (Troy Baker) needs a vacation, so Nightwing (Will Friedle) and Batgirl (Sarah Hyland) take him out of town.
The Justice League agree to watch over Gotham while he’s gone, and they have their hands full when the Joker (Jason Spisak), the Penguin (Tom Kenny), Harley Quinn (Tara Strong), and Poison Ivy (Vanessa Marshall) escape from Arkham Asylum. Of course, the Bat-family adventure runs into some bad guys (Bane and Deathstroke), too, while the Justice League gets help from the Teen Titans.
The Blu-ray (suggested price $24.98) and DVD editions ($19.98) will be out July 12, and early versions come with an exclusive Nightwing Lego figure, as shown here. The Digital HD format can be bought on June 21.
These characters are so cute, and I’m glad this franchise has a sense of humor and fun. Of course Batman needs a vacation! As Cyborg (Chary Payton) says in the trailer (below), “If there’s one hero in this world who NEEDS a vacation, it is definitely you!” Meanwhile, Superman (Nolan North) is bemoaning how, in Gotham, “the criminals are so WEIRD!”
Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout is directed by Matt Peters and Mel Zwyer from a script by Jim Krieg.
