Small Favors to Return From Oni’s Limerence Press

Small Favors: The Definitive Girly Porno Collection

I can’t think of a better pairing. Colleen Coover’s Small Favors, a lesbian porn comic about a magical shrinking fairy and the woman she befriends, will be coming back into print in April 2017 from Limerence Press, which aims to release female & LGBTQ-friendly, sex-positive erotica. They’re best-known for Oh Joy Sex Toy, which has a similarly light-hearted approach to sex as this series.

Colleen Coover is better known these days for her work on the Eisner Award-winning Bandette and various Marvel backup strips. (I’m a big fan of Banana Sunday myself.) But this early work has the same strength of line, clean design, and distinctive characters she’s now known for.

Small Favors was originally serialized by Fantagraphics’ Eros Comix imprint beginning in 2000, with two collections put out reprinting the first seven issues. The Limerance Press version is titled Small Favors: The Definitive Girly Porno Collection, and it will reprint that content along with the previously uncollected color special. It will also include behind-the-scenes materials and a new introduction from Kelly Sue DeConnick.

I really liked the series, because it wasn’t afraid to be silly, and the imagination on display made the encounters sexier. Here are some safe-for-work sample pages, starting with a character sheet. Nibbil, with the big blonde pigtails, is the fairy, and Annie the woman she meets. Most of the series was in black and white, with only the final issue in color as a special.
