Spell on Wheels #4

Spell on Wheels #4

As the witches’ road trip continues, this issue is great for fans of the “monster boyfriend” theme. The women’s next stopping point turns out to be an abandoned-looking house in the wilds of Maryland, where Megan Levens gets a chance to draw an attractive young beast man.

Kate Leth’s story is fun and flirty, but there’s an undertone of ethical consideration, as Jolene enters someone else’s home and Andy’s tempted by stealing from a recipient of stolen goods. The monster, in an obvious lesson of not being distracted by appearances (a theme that ties into the overall plot), is a nice guy, helping them get ready for the next and final stop of the witches’ trip to reclaim their belongings. The dialogue is sparky and entertaining, too.

It’s a shame this all concludes next issue. I hope we see more of the three women and the wondrous world they live in. You can see preview pages at the publisher’s website. (The publisher provided a digital review copy.)
