Marvel’s Black Panther: The Illustrated History of a King Coming Next Month

Marvel's Black Panther: The Illustrated History of a King

Just in time for the Black Panther movie in February, Insight Editions will be releasing Marvel’s Black Panther: The Illustrated History of a King: The Complete Comics Chronology (written by Dennis Culver) next month. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Jack Kirby and first appeared in 1966 in Fantastic Four #52.

I’m curious to learn more about the King of Wakanda, because I’m highly anticipating the movie. The only time I read much of the comics was during Priest’s run in the 1990s, with a fresh take on T’Challa as a real king and a technologically advanced hero, the incredible Dora Milaje, and Everett K. Ross.

The Illustrated History of a King will have exclusive concept art and sketches along with artist and writer interviews and hundreds of images reflecting Black Panther’s history. The cover is by Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz, shown here.
