More DC Universe News Includes a Swamp Thing TV Show

We’ve been hearing about the proposed DC digital service since last year, but since it’s going to debut this year, promotion is slowly ramping up. There’s now a name, DC Universe, and more TV show news.

DC Universe is a first-of-its kind, immersive digital experience designed just for DC fans. One of the many incredible things your membership will include is unlimited access to the following exclusive original series.

That’s followed by these logo cards.

We knew the cartoon Young Justice was returning, and the same press cycle last year talked about the live-action Titans. The Harley Quinn animated series news came out six months ago, but the Swamp Thing show announcement is new.

It’s planned to be live action and not debut until 2019, depending on the script, by Mark Verheiden (Daredevil, the Constantine TV series, Smallville) and Gary Dauberman (It), being approved. The character of Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and there’s already been two movies and a previous TV show.

Also coming to the service in 2019 is the live-action Metropolis, termed a “Superman prequel”. No idea why that doesn’t have a logo card yet.

Right now at dcuniverse.com, there’s an email submission form. If you sign up, they promise updates, but you can only sign up if you’re a US resident, which may disappoint some fans. Speculation continues as to whether this service will extend beyond TV shows to potentially include digital comics.
