Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men Preview Pages

I’m late running this, but the art is so lovely I don’t think it matters that Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men #1 came out two weeks ago. Written by Evan Dorkin and illustrated by Benjamin Dewey, the four-issue miniseries continues the Eisner-winning series about dogs that fight magical creatures. Here are the two covers as well as five preview pages.

Dewey does a terrific job capturing realistic dogs while giving them the expressiveness they need for the story. I’m not a horror fan, so I don’t like the beasties and such that pop up in the story, but I love the way the band of canines look out for each other.

Update: And here, via Dorkin’s Twitter, are the covers for issue 2, which is out September 26. Also revealed is the news that there will be a followup series after this one.
