Wonder Woman Series Coming to Blu-ray

Wonder Woman: The Complete Series

Coming at the end of July is the release of Wonder Woman: The Complete Series, all three seasons of the 1970s TV show, remastered for Blu-ray.

The show starred Lynda Carter as Diana Prince, who in season one was Wonder Woman in the 1940s (and aired on ABC). Seasons two and three (on CBS) moved the show to the then-current 70s, with Steve Trevor (Lyle Waggoner) now the son of the previous and the two working as some kind of agents with a super-computer helper and a toy robot dog thing called Rover. There were 59 episodes total plus a pilot. (And a spin-off comic called Wonder Woman ’77.)

The suggested list price for the set is $64.99, but you can preorder it for prices as low as $50. The DVD sets have been available for a while, in both individual season and collected box set form, but this is a first in the Blu-ray format.

Nowadays, the show is known for a bitchin’ theme song and having Debra Winger play the young Wonder Girl, Diana’s sister. Lynda Carter does a wonderful (heh) job as the title hero, moving beyond the obvious beauty to demonstrate strength, determination, and compassion.
