Lucifer Season 5 Debuts Friday

With so few new productions — TV shows and movies can’t be made during lockdowns, obviously — I’m reconsidering the value of the various streaming services I subscribe to. There just isn’t enough there to keep my attention, and I have stacks of DVDs to watch. Unfortunately, each has at least one must-watch that keeps me hooked. The latest, the reason I haven’t canceled Netflix yet, drops this Friday, which is when Lucifer season 5 will be available. Here’s the trailer:

Lucifer’s twin Michael shows up, and there seems to be plenty of action, along with a black-and-white noir episode (cool!). The show is a favorite of mine, so I’m looking forward to seeing the twists that come next. The season will consist of 16 episodes, although they’re only releasing eight at a time. There’s a musical episode coming in the second half, which has no announced release date yet.

Plus, there’s a sixth season planned! The fifth was going to be the last, but fan interest extended the run. That will be the last, though.

Also, possible spoiler: Dennis Haysbert plays God. Nice casting. That character was previously voiced by Neil Gaiman, which was a lovely choice, since Lucifer is based on the comic book characters created by Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo.

Watched it, was entertained, can’t wait to second half of the season.

  • Glad to hear it! I still haven’t started yet. I’m saving it as a treat.
