Doom Patrol Season 2 Coming January

Doom Patrol: The Complete Second Season

I’ve pretty much given up on most superhero TV shows (with the exception of Legends of Tomorrow) — nothing wrong with them, exactly, only I want to enjoy different kinds of entertainment, most happier or lighter-hearted.

I’ve heard good things about Doom Patrol, though, and it seems like my kind of superhero group — a gang of misfits with unusual abilities and backgrounds. (The cast, with Timothy Dalton, Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, and April Bowlby, is pretty good, too.) I still haven’t watched season one, which aired on the DC Universe streaming service, although I have the Blu-ray.

(If you’re interested, the first season DVD is almost half-price right now at Amazon, $13.)

Doom Patrol: The Complete Second Season

Doom Patrol: The Complete Second Season is due out on home media January 26, so over the holiday seems like a great time to catch up on the 15 episodes of the first season in preparation to watch the nine episodes of the second.

The two-disc Blu-ray set also has two short featurettes: “The Transformers: Doom Patrol’s Make-up FX” and “Doom Patrol – Come Visit Georgia PSA”. (That second one sounds like something they did on the first season Black Lightning set.)

Doom Patrol will have a third season on HBO Max, with release date not yet announced. Here’s a trailer for season 2 (warning: bad language, so don’t play it loud at work):
