Those extras will be: The movie itself, about 75 minutes long, with its six interlocking stories, on both Blu-ray and DVD A digital copy of the movie Audio commentary by Dan DiDio and Geoff Johns (I’m very curious to see how informative/entertaining that is, or how often they make comparisons to the comics) […]

Usagi Yojimbo #136

A new three-part storyline pits the samurai rabbit against the Red Scorpion Gang of thieves. The color covers (by Tom Luth) are so pretty that I sometimes wish the interior wasn’t black and white, although it does show off the skill of Stan Sakai’s storytelling. There’s something universally attractive about the story of a lone fighter, always traveling, who stands by his own code of what’s right. An early scene, where Usagi, defeated enemies splayed around him, faces off with […]

Smbitten Gorgeous Webcomic

Melanie Gillman, as part of mini-thesis work at The Center for Cartoon Studies, is creating “a 60-70 page, all colored pencil, hand-stitched minicomic novella, about a certain mythical creature and a certain minority sexuality that I’ve been dropping hints about for the past several weeks.” (Hint: The comic’s tag is “lesbian vampires”.) Psychiatric Tales is based on the diary he kept during his time as a health care assistant. However, I must quibble with the subtitle — these aren’t stories so much as essays, points about how society treats psychiatric problems punctuated with case studies. That […]

(Write what you know…) Lois Lane: Girl Reporter: Dean Trippe shares his pitch for a terrific-sounding kids’ book project that wasn’t picked up. It’s always the best-sounding works that […]
