Here starts the promotion for Green Lantern: First Flight: a PR-provided interview with Victor Garber, voice of Sinestro. His bio reads: The Canadian-born Garber first captured national attention in his 1973 big screen debut as Jesus in Godspell. Otomen Volume 2

The continuing story from the first volume by Aya Kanno here turns into episodic comedy chapters, becoming rather sitcom-like. When I started reading the first story in Otomen volume 2, about a younger, feminine-looking boy who idolizes the macho-seeming Asuka, I thought I’d forgotten too much of the previous book, since I obviously had overlooked Yamato’s introduction. I dug it out only to see that no, he’s just a new character introduced abruptly. Now that Ryo and Juta accept Asuka’s […]

Orange Planet Volume 1 and Male Harem Manga

When I hear the term “harem manga”, I think of one of those series where a goofy guy has his pick of zaftig girls. I’d never seen the opposite — but I may just not have been looking hard enough. There may be some plot beyond “falling in […]

Gakuen Prince Volume 1

I don’t know whether to be amused or appalled by this “opposites attract” rape comedy. It continues: So begins a wild, no-holds-barred competition for the boys of the school. Which smart and independent-minded girl will rise above the fray? Sounds like a lot of girls want one of the few available young men for […]

Her best friend is Akira, a boy two years younger who’s also a gifted pianist. Akira’s music is Takami’s comfort; no matter the problem, listening to him play makes her feel better.
