The Notorious Canary-Trainers is the local Sherlock Holmes society in the Madison, Wisconsin, area, established in 1969. We are an officially recognized scion of the Baker Street Irregulars. Membership is open to anyone interested in Sherlock Holmes, regardless of age. Visitors are welcome at any of our meetings.
We meet from 3-4:30 PM on the third Sunday of every month, where we discuss one of the Sherlock Holmes stories. Our meeting location is the Fitchburg Library (5530 Lacy Road) September through May, with alternate venues selected in the summer (when the library is closed on Sundays). We also gather for a meal and celebration of Mr. Holmes near his presumed birthday date of January 6.
We maintain an email list (Google group) for meeting reminders and other announcements and discussion. Instructions can be found there, or if you have issues, email johanna@comicsworthreading.com if you’d like to be added.
Find out more about the history of the group.
We have also put together some resources for new Sherlockians.
