Perhapanauts Continues With New Tales Webcomic

It’s been over a year since we’ve seen new Perhapanauts stories (with the Molly’s Story one-shot in February 2010), which is much too long for this enjoyable series about paranormal investigators. Now creators Todd Dezago and Craig Rosseau have launched the webcomic Tales From the Perhaps, alternate versions of their characters by other people, as a recurring online feature. Dezago describes the feature as a webcomic (of sorts) with perhapanauts tales from deep inside the perhaps, that vortex of space […]

Another Great Reason to Go to Heroes Con! Team Cul de Sac Benefit Zine Debuts

Due to various and sundry life choices, my first convention this year will be one of my very favorites, Heroes Con in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 3-5. It’s a terrific show, with a diverse mix of guests and things to do, but there’s one additional special reason to pay attention this year. To benefit Richard Thompson, cartoonist of Cul de Sac and Parkinson’s disease sufferer, Craig Fischer and others have launched Team Cul de Sac, a group collecting art donations […]

Barbara Gordon, Junior Detective

You may remember reading Dean Trippe’s pitch for Lois Lane: Girl Reporter, an abandoned proposal that got some attention online a few weeks ago. After I linked to it, friend of the blog Bob Greenberger mentioned that he’d written a similar one, only this was titled Barbara Gordon, Junior Detective. Bob has kindly given his ok for me to run the proposal, dated October 2008, here, and that’s what you can read below. It seems that HarperCollins wasn’t interested in […]

(Write what you know…) Lois Lane: Girl Reporter: Dean Trippe shares his pitch for a terrific-sounding kids’ book project that wasn’t picked up. It’s always the best-sounding works that […]

Mangaman Announced

Barry Lyga (The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl, Archvillain) and Colleen Doran (Sandman, Orbiter, A Distant Soil) have teamed up for Mangaman, a graphic novel due in November. The plot involves a manga character falling into “our” world and how he copes in an American high school. It’s described as Sci-fi adventure meets love story — and East meets West — in Mangaman, an original graphic novel for teens. When Ryoko falls in love with Marissa Montaigne, the […]

People are trying to hang onto existing businesses in this brave new internet world, but clinging too tightly to the way things have been done just looks silly. Exhibit A: After abruptly closing Wizard magazine amid talk of an online presence, Gareb Shamus revealed more of his plans in an iFanboy interview. The new Wizard World digital magazine will be a free weekly download. That approach doesn’t seem to understand the […]
