Wonder Woman Voice Actress Vicki Lewis

In the latest series of promotional interviews to promote the Wonder Woman animated movie due out March 3, Warner Home Video has distributed a Q&A with Vicki Lewis (NewsRadio). Surprisingly, at least to me, she plays Amazon Persephone, described as “one of the key characters in the Amazon’s battle with Ares.” Also surprising to me is that this is her second DCU appearance. She previously voiced Iris West, the Flash’s fiancee, in Justice League: The New Frontier. QUESTION: When you […]

Wonder Woman: Virginia Madsen on Comics, Gender, Parenting

The latest in the series of studio-produced interviews promoting the direct-to-video Wonder Woman animated movie has been released: it’s a conversation with Virginia Madsen, who voices Queen Hippolyta. Since it’s promotional, there’s not a lot of striking content, although it’s cute to see Madsen talk about her teenage son and his take on things. I did find these two exchanges, near the end, interesting: Question: Were/are you a comic-book reader? Madsen: I was not a comic book reader, but my […]

Wonder Woman Animated Movie Update

Before the Wonder Woman original animated movie is released March 3, it will have a “big screen premiere” at the New York Comic Con on February 6 at 8:30 PM, followed by a panel discussion with the film’s cast and crew. I’m still not sure whether I’ll be able to go to the show this year. I much prefer an April timeframe for visiting the city, but my brother’s living in the area now. Decisions, decisions. Seeing the film (and […]

Wonder Woman Original Animation Trailer

Out of the various original animation DVDs Warner Bros. has done, this is going to be my favorite, I can tell. The voice talent is amazing: not only are Keri Russell (Waitress, Felicity) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Waitress) the leads, but Oliver Platt is the voice of Hades; Rosario Dawson is another Amazon; and Alfred Molina is Ares (making for some odd crossover potential, since he was also the bad guy in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2). Wonder Woman is due out […]

Batman: Gotham Knight

Review by KC Carlson and Ed Sizemore [A note from KC: When Johanna asked me to review the new Batman: Gotham Knight animated DVD, it didn’t take me long to realize that I was in over my head. Although the history of American animation is kind of a hobby of mine, I have only a very limited scope of what is going on in the rapidly growing world of anime. Sadly, except for the end credits of the DVD, the […]

Justice League: The New Frontier

Review by KC Carlson There must be crazier things to do than trying to adapt a critically acclaimed — as well as beloved — 400+ page graphic novel into a 75-minute animated film, but I can’t think of any. But that’s exactly what has been done with Justice League: The New Frontier, the seminal work by artist and writer (and occasional animation creator) Darwyn Cooke, which will be released in a myriad of DVD formats next Tuesday, February 26. And […]
