Lucifer, Stargirl Soundtracks Now Available

WaterTower Music, the in-house label for WarnerMedia companies, has digitally released two soundtrack albums. The one I’m eager for, as readers know, is Lucifer: Seasons 1-5 (Original Television Soundtrack). It contains 13 songs from across the show’s run, “featuring performances by series stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, and Lesley Ann-Brandt, as well as guest star Lindsey Gort and performer Skye Townsend.” You can hear samples of the tracks and select your favorite service from that link above. I have a […]

Leverage to Return

I had no idea they were doing a Leverage reboot/ spin-off/ sequel/ followup… whatever you call it, it’s got four of the five original stars (Beth Riesgraf, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, and Aldis Hodge) and, according to Deadline, a “fresh update of the original concept, about reformed crooks using their unique skills to right corporate and governmental injustices inflicted on common citizens.” Timothy Hutton won’t return; the new lead is Noah Wyle, who previously worked with some of the same […]

Getting Ready for Enola Holmes

Given I know a number of Sherlock Holmes fans, there’s been a lot of chatter lately about the upcoming Enola Holmes movie, which debuts on Netflix on September 23. This is the one where Henry Cavill plays Sherlock, and the title character is played by Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things). It’s based on the book series by Nancy Springer (six books, 2006-2010) in which the young Holmes sister is on her own when their mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) goes […]

Lucifer Season 5 Debuts Friday

With so few new productions — TV shows and movies can’t be made during lockdowns, obviously — I’m reconsidering the value of the various streaming services I subscribe to. There just isn’t enough there to keep my attention, and I have stacks of DVDs to watch. Unfortunately, each has at least one must-watch that keeps me hooked. The latest, the reason I haven’t canceled Netflix yet, drops this Friday, which is when Lucifer season 5 will be available. Here’s the […]

Wonder Woman: The Complete Series Now on Blu-ray

As I previously mentioned, there is a new release of Wonder Woman: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. Thanks to the studio, I was sent a copy, and I took a quick look at the package this weekend. Note that I will not be talking about specific episodes here. I suspect you know if you want to see them. They’re very 70s, and the ideal audience is nostalgic, with plenty of patience, as they seem slow-paced to a current-day viewer. The […]

Keith Knight’s TV Show Has Release Date, Trailer

There’s going to be a TV show based on the life and work of cartoonist Keith Knight, whose cartoons I’ve admired for a long time. His best work, imo, is The K Chronicles but he also had a more traditional newspaper comic strip, The Knight Life, and the editorial-style (th)ink. Woke stars Lamorne Morris (New Girl) as Keef, a cartoonist whose worldview is changed (he starts seeing things talk to him) after a racist police encounter. It will have eight […]

Lucifer: The Complete Fourth Season

I finally got a chance to watch Lucifer: The Complete Fourth Season, which came out on DVD in May. (That’s a year after this season debuted on Netflix, which is typical timing.) The season opens with a morose Lucifer, depressed after Chloe saw his real face (at the end of the third season, when he rescued her from assault-rifle attack). She’s bolted, on vacation for a month, so he mopes around, which allows us all a reminder of the key […]

LEGO DC Shazam! Magic & Monsters

LEGO DC Shazam! Magic & Monsters is the latest original animated film blending two major brands, following in the path of Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash, Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis, and of course, Lego Batman. (And boy, I’m glad they’ve streamlined the titles.) This is great family viewing for a lazy afternoon (and aren’t most of them these days?), even if I did drift off a bit during the final big fight. It’s […]
