Warner Home Video has provided these images from the upcoming DC Showcase: Spectre short that will be included on the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths special edition DVD, due out February 23. Click for larger versions.

The Spectre, voiced by Gary Cole

As described by the publicity group, “The Spectre focuses on a detective story with an ethereal twist, featuring the otherworldly character originally introduced by DC Comics in 1940. The short is written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (G.I Joe: Resolute).”

Drew Flynn is a special effects wizard character

Detective Corrigan has romantic history with Aimee Brenner, voiced by Alyssa Milano

DC Showcase is a co-production from Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video and DC Comics, with executive producer Bruce Timm. The next DC Showcase title will be Jonah Hex (written by Joe Lansdale).

Interesting! I’m a sucker for the old school (i.e. non-goateed, Jim Corrigan) Spectre.

I like the new guy, too, although I don’t remember his name. He seemed like one of the better character updates recently.

I believe the new Spectre is Crispus Allen from the Batman line, most notably Gotham Central. I do enjoy him as the Spectre (more than Hal Jordan) but Jim Corrigan will always be the Spectre in my mind. I’m a sucker for all “Earth-2″ (pre-crisis Earth-2, not the current Earth-2) characters.

Can’t wait to get the DVD and see this along with the feature.
