Avengers Movie Trailer Released
October 12, 2011

Marvel’s The Avengers (apparently the official name of the film) will be released in theaters May 4, 2012. Here’s the first trailer:

What do you think? My favorite bits are the snarky Robert Downey, Jr. comments, but then, he’s my favorite film superhero. I really wish there was more than one woman, and I’m not a fan of Scarlett Johansson. I’m more eager to see Thor now, though, because Chris Hemsworth looks like he’s having fun.

I would have liked to have seen more images of the heroes together, not cuts from one to another, and the generic explosion footage doesn’t tell me anything about the film, but overall, the trailer did its job: It made me more interested in seeing the movie. And Samuel L. Jackson is always cool.

Thor is a fun movie, and Chris Hemsworth is terrific! The Avengers looks great! I’ll agree about the lack of women, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel managed to incorporate a small, winged female into the film, or, more likely, have Bruce Banner give Tony Stark’s legal advisor an emergency blood transfusion, paving the way for the second film.
