I have been woefully remiss in not yet writing about the excellent Blacksad, which came out earlier this summer in hardcover from Dark Horse. The comic, written by Juan Díaz Canales and illustrated by Juanjo Guarnido, beautifully blends private eye noir with anthropomorphism. DC Showcase Shorts Collection Announced With New Captain Marvel Cartoon

I’ve enjoyed the DC Showcase cartoons as much or more as the longer animated features they come attached to. Now, Warner Home Video has announced a collection of four of those shorts. Marvel Launching Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Cartoon

Marvel has announced that their The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated series will debut this fall on their parent company’s Disney XD channel (three years after production on the 26 half-hour episodes started — cartoons take time!).
