Chris Evans plays Captain America in Marvel's Avengers

Disney has announced that Captain America: The First Avenger will have a sequel opening on April 4, 2014. (A little early for the traditional “Marvel movie opens on the first weekend in May” pattern we’ve followed so far.) They describe plans for the film as a quasi-Avengers sequel, stating

The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the time-lost Avenger struggling with today’s challenges. (Although I hope he gets a better hat.) This is far from the only Marvel sequel due out — 2013 will bring us both Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 if everything proceeds as planned, and that’s just from Marvel Studios. Fox is also planning The Wolverine for 2013, and Columbia wants to do a second Amazing Spider-Man in 2014.

Agree about the hat. I thought the army helmet with the ‘A’ on it he grabbed for his first mission worked better than the skull cap with wings look in the picture you linked.

Again, not opening a Captain America film on the 4th of July weekend? So wrong.

Marvel apparently has a second spot reserved in 2014, on June 27th. I’m guessing we’ll get S.H.I.E.L.D. Starring Fury and Black Widow, or something that takes Marvel in a tangential direction, like Dr. Strange, Black Panther or Power Man/Iron Fist.
