C2E2: Athlitacomics Brings Protectors #1, Win a Copy Signed by Israel Idonije

Israel Idonije, Chicago Bears defensive lineman, appeared at C2E2 to debut a special limited edition #1 of his series The Protectors, put out by Athlitacomics.
Idonije came up with the idea during training camp years ago. The series combines two basic concepts — sports heroes and super heroes — into an adventure where athletic stars get superpowers. The comic is created by two long-standing professionals; Ron Marz writes and Bart Sears draws. Marz, when I spoke to him, was excited and “reinvigorated” to be working on the book, saying that it gave him the same excitement he had reading classic hero teams as a kid. It seems like a great concept for younger readers.
This #1 issue has some establishing setup and character profiles of the five team members — a player each from football, basketball, baseball, soccer (the woman), and hockey. There’s a five-issue arc to start, and the company plans to announce a publishing deal soon. Most importantly, I have a copy signed by Idonije and Marz to give away to one lucky reader. If you’re interested in entering this contest, please leave a comment below with your favorite sports comic — Eyeshield 21? Tank McNamara? NFL SuperPro? Whatever it is, let me know before Friday, May 2, at 5 PM Eastern.
