Beasts of Burden to Return With New Artist

Beasts of Burden was an award-winning series about a group of dogs (and the occasional cat) that protected their neighborhood from supernatural monster. It was written by Evan Dorkin, painted by Jill Thompson, and published by Dark Horse from 2009-2010, with occasional one-shots in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
The most recent release was Beasts of Burden: What the Cat Dragged In, which was published in May 2016 and just won an Eisner for Best Single Issue/One-Shot.
Now comes news that there’s going to be a new miniseries by Dorkin and Benjamin Dewey. Dorkin was tweeting earlier tonight:
FYI the BEASTS OF BURDEN mini by me and Benjamin Dewey is a side series in continuity but separate. Wise Dog Society #seeHuntersGatherers

It will be self-contained but have ramifications on the Burden Hill mystery. Takes place during current arc, after Emrys and Miranda leave.

And Dewey posted some art on Instagram:
I’m glad to see the series continue. I’m not a big fan of fantasy, but somehow seeing dogs cope with magic is a totally different thing.

I was worried there for a second; I wouldn’t want to see the main series continue without Thompson. But a side series with a guest artist is just fine — better than fine; most welcome.
