Adam West/William Shatner Batman/Two-Face Animated Movie Announced

Batman vs. Two-Face

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, the original animated movie featuring Adam West voicing the 1960s version of the hero, has a follow-up coming, and it’s got an astounding guest star. William Shatner will be playing the other title character in Batman vs. Two-Face, out in October.

West and Shatner previously worked together in a pilot for a 1963 TV show, Alexander the Great, that wasn’t picked up. This is one of West’s last roles, as he passed away in June. Also, Two-Face may be the best-known Batman villain that never appeared on the TV show, so this is a first-time pairing in this continuity.

Burt Ward and Julie Newmar also return as Robin and Catwoman, respectively, as do Jeff Bergman as the Joker, William Salyers as the Penguin, Wally Wingert as both the Riddler and King Tut, and Lynne Marie Stewart as Aunt Harriet. Plus, as the press release has it,

The core Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders filmmaking team reprises their roles for Batman vs. Two-Face. Rick Morales (LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash) directs from a script by Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!) and James Tucker (Teen Titans: The Judas Contract).

Batman vs. Two-Face will be available digitally on October 10 and on Blu-ray Combo Pack (with DVD and digital copy, list price $24.98) and DVD (list price $19.98) on October 17.

Special features will include the Adam West Tribute Panel from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, in which Kevin Smith, Lee Meriwether (Catwoman from the 1966 Batman movie, and a contributing voice in this movie), actor Ralph Garman, producer James Tucker, and moderator Gary Miereanu remembered the actor. Also included will be a featurette, “The Wonderful World of Burt Ward”, a spotlight on his “life away from acting, particularly his many benevolent activities, and his lifelong devotion to the health and welfare of dogs”, as well as a second piece in which Burt Ward and Julie Newmar discuss various aspects of their lives, ambitions, and inspirations.
