Image Eliminates Direct PDF Sales

As of tomorrow, Image Comics will no longer sell DRM-free digital comic versions through their website.

Customers who have already purchased have until February to download. There was no press release, just an email message to existing customers, which also says

Future titles will be available for purchase through our other digital vendor partners, and DRM-free versions through other services that offer it, like comiXology.

Sounds as if they want to get out of the digital comic sales business, which they launched in 2013, and allow dedicated vendors to handle it. One less thing for the publisher to manage. Most publishers don’t bother with direct digital sales, creating an inadvertent ComiXology/Amazon monopoly in that area.
