Archie Puts Out More Sabrina Comics

What do you do when you’ve got a TV show based on your comic property, and yet you can’t get any issues of the comic book series out because the writer is busy with the TV work?

If you’re Archie Comics, you plaster Sabrina’s name on your flagship title to jump on the bandwagon. According to Decider, Archie (which relaunched to be more Riverdale-like with issue #700 in November) will become Archie and Sabrina with issue #705, due in May. (Although the solicitation copy they cite still lists the comic as Archie #705: Archie and Sabrina, and it says it will be a five-issue storyline.)

Archie and Sabrina have been secretly dating in the comic as written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Sandy Jarrell. This series will likely be more mass-audience-friendly than the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which last released issue #8 in August 2017, part of the Archie Horror line that is driving the company these days.

There will also be a more traditional (not part of the horror line) Sabrina the Teenage Witch miniseries of five issues launching next month by Kelly Thompson and Veronica Fish.
