The Five Years Later Legion Collected After All

A year and a half ago, there was news that the first 13 issues of the “five years later” run of The Legion of Super-Heroes — the version of the series that began in 1989 — would be collected as a $50 hardcover.
A year ago, the project was cancelled.
Now, dedicated fans get another chance. Only The Legion of Super-Heroes Five Years Later Omnibus is now a hardcover with over 1400 pages, due out August 12, and priced at $150.
This is pretty much the entire run of what fans called the TMK era (for writers Tom and Mary Bierbaum and Keith Giffen), reprinting Legion of Super-Heroes #1-39, Timber Wolf #1-5 (written by Al Gordon), Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #1-3, and Adventures of Superman #478 (where Superman visits the Legion in the 30th century). Artists include Colleen Doran, Curt Swan, Stuart Immonen, Dan Jurgens, and Jason Pearson.
If you still want it, it can be preordered now with code MAR20 0656. I pretty much have to have it, given the memories.

Not sure if I’ll bother with the collection, as I have the originals.
I do remember saying I enjoyed the run back when I first got on Usenet, back in the day, having no clue what a minefield that was. I was immediately berated for my opinion by one of the regulars… I want to say Mike Chary, but 20+ years later I’m no longer sure. I do remember who emailed me, telling me not to be discouraged by one person giving me grief and not to instantly give up on Usenet because of it.
I still appreciate that act of kindness, Johanna. Thank you again.

Oh my goodness! THAT’s a memory! Thanks for reminding me.
I kind of miss those days, even with the arguments. The passion could be exhilarating.

I just recently completed my back issue box diving effort to collect most all the books in this collection. Never read it but hope to enjoy it sooner rather than later.

Well, if this does come out, I just might get it….I love the Legion and have always had a fascination with this era. So…I should get it

I am looking forward to rereading it and seeing what I think almost 30 years later.
