Bloodshot Available on Digital Already

The pandemic situation, and the resulting closure of most public spaces, means usual rules are out the window. Traditionally, a movie wouldn’t be available for home viewing until three months after its theatrical release, in order for the various movie theaters (first-run, discount, etc.) to make money. Annoying one’s distribution partners doesn’t allow for good ongoing business relationships.

However, now that movie theaters have been closed, that no longer applies. Bloodshot came out in theaters on March 13, right before all this started happening, which meant terrible box office returns. So as of March 24, you can buy it on digital for $20.

That’s a lot for a curiosity watch, but if you have a couple of other people to watch it with (although you can’t invite them over these days), it’s a lot cheaper than going out (used to be). And if you’re interested in the movie, better to see it now instead of having it get lost in other releases later. This can’t be how Valiant Comics wanted to have their comic book universe launch on the big screen.

Here’s the description of the Bloodshot movie:

Based on the bestselling comic book, Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force — stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not — but he’s on a mission to find out.

The digital version comes with the following special features:

  • Deleted & Extended Scenes including an Alternate Ending
  • Outtakes & Blooper Reel
  • Featurette: “Initiate Sequence: Directing Bloodshot“: Visual effects and video game artist Dave Wilson takes the reins of his first feature film and reveals all of the passion, creativity, and hard work that he and his team of artists employed in bringing Bloodshot to life.
  • Featurette: “Forgotten Soldiers: The Cast of Bloodshot“: Vin Diesel takes center stage to unveil the compelling aspects of his approach to the comic book superhero, Bloodshot, and Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, and Lamorne Morris detail all aspects of the film’s amazing ensemble.

There is no date yet announced for the physical home video release on DVD or Blu-ray.

Update: The movie became available on DVD, on Blu-ray, and on 4K on May 5.
