Tubi, the ad-supported free streaming service, has announced that starting tomorrow (Christmas Day), they will be showing the movie Henchmen. Here’s some of the promotional text:

The movie features an all-star voice cast that includes Thomas Middleditch, James Marsden, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina, Craig Robinson, Will Sasso, Nathan Fillion, Rob Riggle, Jane Krakowski, and Bobcat Goldthwait.

In Henchmen, a young man Lester (Middleditch) dreams of becoming a supervillain and joins the Union of Evil as a henchman led by fallen and disillusioned Hank (Marsden). Together, with Hank’s scientist friend, Jolene (Dawson), they must prevent Baron Blackout (Molina) from world domination.

I asked for a screening copy because I was impressed by the cast, but honestly, I found the movie so dull and predictable I couldn’t get through it. The animation style is generic, and the message is the typical workplace idea of “found family”/”friends save each other” you’ve seen in a bunch of sitcoms.

However, it’s free to watch, so if you’re interested, or really like gags about living in a superhero-ish world, you may want to check it out.
