Lumberjanes Ends, Cartoon Planned
The final issue of Lumberjanes has just been solicited for a December release in comic shops. End of Summer #1 can be ordered now with Diamond code OCT20 0902 (cover by Kat Leyh), OCT20 0903 (cover by Harriet Moulton), or OCT20 0904 (cover by Tillie Walden). It’s $6.99 for 48 pages.
The contents are written by Shannon Watters and Kat Leyh and illustrated by Brooklyn Allen (artist on the first story) and Kanesha C. Bryant. The series has been running since April 2014, quite a long time for a title of this type in this market.
It did quite well for publisher Boom! Studios, too, with spin-off novels and graphic novels and merchandise and reference books and, coming from HBO Max, an animated series written and produced by Noelle Stevenson (who was the successful showrunner of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power). Per the press release announcing that,
The Lumberjanes graphic novel series, co-created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson, and Brooklyn Allen, has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide since launching in 2014. Lumberjanes has run for over 70 issues and 13 graphic novels, won multiple Eisner Awards including the award for Best New Series, and won the GLAAD award for Outstanding Comic Book.
Summer camp has to come to an end, although the publisher is teasing that this is “not the end of the ‘Janes and new adventures.”
