It’s not like the sure-to-make-a-billion-dollars superhero movie opening this coming weekend needs any promotional help at this point, but after re-watching Captain America: Civil War last night, it was nice to see these Avengers actors goofing off. I had high hopes for the newest DC original animated movie, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. It has two of my favorite DC things: the Legion of Super-Heroes and Jessica Cruz, Green Lantern. Scotch: A Golden Dream is an hour-and-a-half documentary about the making of Scotch whisky and its many traditions. With views of green pastures, amber liquid, and Scottish activities and outfits, it opens in a relaxing mood and continues in the same style, building layers of knowledge revolving around one particular master of the drink. UltraViolet, launched in 2011 as a movie studio alternative to iTunes’ growing dominance of digital video, is ending. (The first studio to use it was Warner.) The service, which was planned to allow you to aggregate digital copies of TV shows and movies and watch on a variety of devices, has been generally replaced by Movies Anywhere (assuming you’re in the US), which has the benefit of including Disney (who originally launched it) and working across more services, including iTunes.
