Sherlock Manga Coming to English

Back in 2012, a manga adaptation of the Sherlock TV show starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman began running in Japan. Now, that comic comes to English for the US and UK via Titan Comics. Sherlock: A Study in Pink will debut in June. They’re describing it as “a manga comic series”, so I’m guessing it will appear in issues before being collected, similar to the way the original was serialized in chapters. A Study in Pink was the first […]

The DC New 52: Reviews of All the Week Three Books

Reviews by KC Carlson (with guest cameo by JDC!) Batman and Robin #1 Upfront (what you should know about my preconceptions about the comic): Not much changing here, no? Other than Bruce becoming Batman full-time again, I don’t think there’s much radically changing in the Bat-books, so there’s not much to talk about. I’m intrigued by writer Peter Tomasi making some tiny (but potentially huge, psychologically) changes to Batman’s way of thinking in regards to the death of his parents […]

Batman: The Brave and the Bold Season Two, Part One

Review by KC Carlson How engaging to have another 12 episodes (on two DVDs) of the most charming Batman: The Brave and the Bold series — the first half of Season Two — to dive into. Guest stars this time around include Plastic Man (and Woozy Winks!), Blue Beetle, Aquaman, The Green Lantern Corps, the Justice […]

DC Relaunch Titles I’m Looking Forward To (And Why I Don’t Care for the Others)

Now that I’m caught up on writing about the DC relaunch news itself, let’s take a look at the titles announced so far. They’ve been trickling out in themed posts: The Big Guns: Justice League #1 by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee I’m not excited by the creators, but I will check it out as the flagship; it should be a good indicator of the tone of the line. Wonder Woman #1 by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang Definitely. Anything […]

The Middleman: The Complete Series

I’ve loved this show since I watched the pilot. It’s fun, clever, adventurous, and imaginative. The dialogue is wonderful and knowing, and I love the suit-up Avengers homage montage when Wendy finally joins the team. If you don’t want to read all the detail, here’s the short version: buy the DVD set and enjoy it. The concept (there’s more information at my earlier link) is that artist Wendy (Natalie Morales) is temping at a lab to pay bills when she’s […]
