Coming at the end of July is the release of Wonder Woman: The Complete Series, all three seasons of the 1970s TV show, remastered for Blu-ray. The show starred Lynda Carter as Diana Prince, who in season one was Wonder Woman in the 1940s (and aired on ABC). Warner Bros. has announced that Scoob!, the first full-length animated Scooby-Doo movie intended for theaters, will instead be available through home video services beginning on May 15. It’s the smart thing to do, but the San Diego Comic-Con, which was to be held this year July 23-26, has been officially cancelled. I’m not at all surprised, since California has locked down a lot of public gatherings and said that approach would continue through the summer. During the pandemic quarantine, book publishing is mostly continuing and comic book publishing has mostly ceased. Which lead to me wondering what the manga publishers are doing. They have very little dependence on the comic market stores, so that shutdown doesn’t matter to them. But many bookstores are also closed, reducing the ability to reach customers, and manga series are serialized, making it important to keep readers hooked. Turns out that CCD was formed 40 years ago this month, and Milton has posted a brief reminiscence of the company’s history.
